Our trainees at the IHK final competition in Berlin – Energy Scouts in action

Berlin, Berlin – we were in Berlin! From June 16 to 18, 2025, our trainees took part in the final round of the nationwide IHK “Energy Scouts” competition in the capital as finalists.

A successful combination of the official award ceremony, cultural program, and interaction with other teams made this trip a special experience for our trainees from Frechen, Saskia Frohn, Yannick Zech, and Giuseppe Platania.

And here is your report:
Monday, June 16 – Arrival and first impressions

Our trip to Berlin began on Monday morning. Our trainees set off at around 11 a.m. and arrived in the capital after a journey of around six hours. The first evening together began with dinner at the famous Hard Rock Café on Kurfürstendamm. Afterwards, we explored some of Berlin’s most famous sights on foot – from Kurfürstendamm to Potsdamer Platz and the Brandenburg Gate. With pleasant temperatures, the day ended in a relaxed atmosphere with lively conversations and numerous souvenir photos.

Tuesday, June 17 – Highlight of the stay: The Chamber of Commerce and Industry event

Tuesday was all about the competition. After a joint reception for all finalists, the official IHK event began with the award ceremony.

The award-winning projects were divided into German and European entries. Within the German category, a further distinction was made according to key topics such as resource efficiency and energy saving. Each winning team was invited onto the stage to receive a certificate. A grand prize winner was also chosen in each category – an exciting moment for everyone involved.

Even though we didn’t take any of the top spots, we are very proud of our performance and the support we received from Quarzwerke.

Wednesday, June 18 – Return journey with many impressions

On Wednesday morning, we began our journey home. In our luggage: numerous new impressions, inspiring conversations, and well-deserved recognition.

Quarzwerke would like to thank Saskia, Giuseppe, and Yannick for their efforts and congratulate them on their successful participation in the “Energy Scouts” competition!
