Minister of State Albert Füracker visits Amberger Kaolinwerke – Strong signal for investment and regional value creation
During an informational visit, Bavaria’s Minister of Finance and Home Affairs, Albert Füracker, gained insight into the current developments and strategic investments of Amberger Kaolinwerke.
The visit highlights the central importance of the domestic raw materials industry for Bavaria’s economic strength and international competitiveness. Minister of State Füracker emphasized the role of private investment as a cornerstone of economic sustainability: “In a modern country, investment by private individuals and companies is essential—the state cannot achieve this on its own. Only with entrepreneurial commitment can we shape our future and secure jobs and prosperity. The state’s task is to create the best possible conditions for this. That is why investment in infrastructure is necessary to maintain Bavaria as a business location. One thing is certain: standing still means losing prosperity!”
The exchange focused on the planned modernization of the production facilities. This major investment is a decisive step toward securing the future viability and efficiency of the site in the long term. Thomas Perterer, Managing Director of Amberger Kaolinwerke, emphasized how important it is to combine economic goals with social responsibility: “Open dialogue with the local population is a key concern for us. At the same time, we are competing globally and must operate with maximum cost efficiency. The existing old plant no longer meets the requirements of a modern production facility – the planned plant modernization is therefore essential for our future viability.”
Plant manager Dr. Matthias Kick emphasized the importance of the site for regional industry: “The value chain begins at the Hirschau/Schnaittenbach open-cast mine and forms the basis for supplying local companies in the construction, glass, and ceramics industries with high-quality industrial minerals. We secure jobs in Bavaria and at the same time have to hold our own in the international arena. Efficiency and sustainable processes are at the heart of our investment strategy.”
