Gartenmineralien goes live – new product ranges from the DIY division
Website launch gartenmineralien.de
Heat, drought, water shortages, wilting plants—unfortunately, these are the issues that virtually every gardener has had to deal with in recent years. “Especially on social media channels, we could see these problems being discussed more and more frequently, almost hourly. That’s what prompted us to develop our mission statement,” reports Falk Schröter, Managing Director of the DIY Division.
The simple solution: climate-friendly gardening with drought-resistant plants and our minerals.
At the same time, bans on gravel gardens are repeatedly the focus of attention in cities and municipalities, contributing to uncertainty about which stones can actually still be used in one’s own garden.
“We want to bring the positive aspects of gravel and similar materials back into focus, while at the same time taking a clear stand against concrete jungles,” says Falk Schröter.
Concepts for low-maintenance and drought-resistant plantings have been tested and successfully implemented in public spaces for many years. Almost everyone now knows of an area or traffic island in their neighborhood that has been planted with mineral substrate and mulched with gravel.
“The aim was to develop a product range and communication strategy that would bring this wealth of experience to retailers and consumers,” says Andrea Schröner, responsible for marketing and key account manager at Hornbach. With its “Do it right” campaign, the DIY division shows how minerals can be used as valuable companions in the garden.
And with that, a new category was added to the portfolio: garden minerals.
In a joint project with Germany’s most innovative DIY store Hornbach, POS systems and online content were developed and implemented. With the separate and additional website, the DIY division is specifically building up direct end-consumer interaction.
Mineral mulches and gravel garden substrate are now also listed by other major customers.

Incidentally, this is a genuine Quarzwerke project: “Mulch Quarzit” is high-quality 8/16 mm crushed stone from the Witterschlick plant.
