Family Day with DIE FAMILIENUNTERNEHMER at Quarzwerke: Discover, Experience, Understand
What does a family-owned business in the raw materials extraction industry actually look like—and what really goes on there? At the FAMILIENUNTERNEHMER Family Day held at the Frechen site, business owners and their children were able to experience exactly that.
For an entire afternoon, the mine became a place of discovery: a place to look, marvel, and ask questions.
A Picnic Between the Sand and Nature
The event couldn’t have gotten off to a more summery start: a group picnic right in the middle of the quarry.
Surrounded by sand, bodies of water, and sweeping views, it quickly became clear just how special this place is—and how closely industry and nature come together here.
Discovering Nature – Right in the Middle of Mining Operations
During the nature tour of the mine, our biologist vividly explained why rare species thrive right here. The participants learned how habitats develop—often in places where you wouldn’t expect them at first.
At the same time, our environmental educator led a separate program for our younger guests: playful, engaging, and with plenty of opportunities to experiment and explore.
A Look Behind the Scenes
Afterward, we went even deeper into the heart of the operation: the production area.
During the tour of the facilities, it became clear how high-quality products are made from sand as a raw material—and just how much technology, expertise, and responsibility go into the process.
A Day That Brings People Together
The afternoon showed what is important to us: transparency, dialogue, and the opportunity to bring our work to life—for young and old alike.
