15 years of HPF The Mineral Engineers—from Division 3 to international brand

The new name was introduced for the first time at the K plastics trade fair in 2010 and has since established itself internationally as an independent brand.

The company name “Quarzwerke” is difficult to pronounce for non-German speakers. However, as the colleagues at HPF The Mineral Engineers continued to expand their international reach, the new name was chosen to reflect this ongoing internationalization.

When HPF The Mineral Engineers was officially launched at the K plastics trade fair in October 2010, those responsible naturally had high expectations for its successful development. However, it took a lot of work for the name to become established internationally.

“HPF” stands for High Performance Fillers. In dialogue with customers, the “mineral engineers” develop mineral-based solutions for their customers’ polymer applications. 

In the meantime, sales offices have been established in South Korea and Italy. Since then, HPF The Mineral Engineers has clearly become an international brand. In addition, the pilot production facility in Frechen, where many HPF products were manufactured for sale, was renamed HPF Production and thus became the division’s own production plant.

In an interview following the successful launch of the state-of-the-art production facility in Dangjin, South Korea, in 2021, Division Manager Dr. Jörg Ulrich Zilles explained the significance of the new name: “The internationalization of the name and logo was an important step toward enhancing our international reputation as a provider of system solutions using mineral raw materials.”

A separate website in several languages was created for global customers of high-performance fillers. The worldwide dealer network was further expanded. The HPF Academy offers regular online training courses for dealers and colleagues. Here, presentations are given on specific applications in order to transfer success stories to other regions. However, in order to exchange ideas live and in person, an international sales meeting is held every two years. Sales partners from all over the world are invited to attend.
